Mindset Matters for Small Business Success

Taking on the responsibilities of owning and managing a new business can seem overwhelming. And if you are already overwhelmed before you start, you are destined to fail. Successful business owners are focused, disciplined and ready to take on the challenges head on. Managing your mind will be crucial to your success!

Here are a few strategies to help you manage your mind so you can get focused on the tasks ahead of you and run a successful new business:

Exercise your body and your mind! Keep your brain functioning a max capacity by jumping off of autopilot. Start a new hobby. Complete cross word puzzles. Learn a new skill. Keeping your mind active and growing will be essential to your conditioning process. Start somewhere and keep going. Every day. Add something new to routine and stick with it!

Evaluate your diet! There is a direct correlation between gut health and brain health. Eat plenty of whole foods includes fresh veggies, fruits and whole grains. Create an eating plan that feeds your body as well as your brain. Drink plenty of water and pay attention to your body. It will tell you when it's hungry. Be mindful of your eating triggers and develop alternate healthy coping strategies.

Be social! Starting a business can be very lonely. You may find yourself working non-stop leaving little time for play or socialization. Your mind and body need a break, so give it one doing something you enjoy! Make time to nurture relationships that are important to you. Tunnel vision on just your business will lead to burn out. Recharge and re-engage!

Manage your stress before it manages you! Create a realistic schedule for yourself that include opportunities for regular self care. This may include meditation, exercise, massage or play time. Learning how to say no and establish healthy boundaries is also critical to prevent burnout. You don't have to say yes to everyone and everything. You just can't do it all. Take a good look at what you need to do and how you are going to get there. Some people and things will naturally need to fall to the bottom of your list. It's your new beginning. Those who value you will still be there when you say no. Leave the guilt behind.

Entering into the world of business requires a different mindset than most are used to. It can be enthralling as well as overwhelming if you are not prepared. Start your new beginning on the right foot! If I can help you determine is self-employment or starting a business is right for you, please message me to arrange your first consultation session.
